MENTOR

DANIEL STANCIU

Head of Water Treatment Plant
In Petromidia since 2001

Do you remember your first day in the company? How did you feel? What did you do?
When I was hired, I had the impression that I knew nothing, I felt very small in this Petromidia Platform universe. On the first day, I got in touch with what the Utilities Plant represents, and I was convinced that I wouldn't be able to remember all the roads, all the pipes, all the utilities, where they come from, where they go, what their role is, etc.

Did you have a Mentor or someone to inspire you at the beginning?
The person who guided me at the beginning was Mr. Rusu Nicolae, who was the Head of the Thermo-Networks Unit (as the activity was organized at that time). Also, an important role was played by the operators and foremen, from whom I had a lot to learn, many of them with huge experience and a desire to share the accumulated knowledge.

Name three values, skills or rules of successful in this field.
Fairness, perseverance, empathy, to which I would add a little optimism and the ability to communicate. A rule I always follow: "Treat others the way you want to be treated.”

What would you like the new generation of colleagues to take over from you and carry forward?
The desire to do their work well today, so there would be no need to repair it tomorrow.

What are the values/skill you appreciate the most in Mihai?
Mihai has shown that he can quickly integrate in the team, learns easily, is persistent and optimistic.

TRAINEE

MIHAI SORIN SULTAN

Water Treatment Plant Operator
In Petromidia since 2023

Tell us briefly what made you decide to apply for the Together We Grow – Rompetrol Traineeship program.
I learned about the Traineeship Program through a workshop organized by the faculty I attended and expressed my interest in participating, being attracted by the prospect of obtaining relevant work experience for my professional future, as any student would wish. I applied in both 2022 and 2023, and both experiences were special for me, given my profound desire to truly understand what it means to work in a refinery.

How important is it to have a Mentor at the beginning, and what is the most important piece of advice you received from him?
I believe that the Mentor is one of the people you absolutely need and cannot do without, because he is the one who gives you all the "tools" necessary to build and shape yourself as an employee and as a person.

What skills or competencies would you like to develop more?
I want to develop my skills as much as possible, paying particular attention to the skill and ability to collaborate effectively in the team.

For better personal and professional development, what would you like the Mentor and Trainee collaboration and communication to look like?
Communication requires fluidity, that’s why it is essential that the Trainee addresses questions, even if there is the possibility of repetition.

What values/skills do you appreciate most in your Mentor?
I had the privilege of having an amazing Mentor who managed his time properly to help me and my colleagues both during the Traineeship period and afterwards, for which I am grateful. From my perspective, among his most significant qualities are patience, cooperation, altruism and leadership.
