The launch of the turbines was attended by Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas, H.E. Yerlik Ali, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Romania, Bogdan Stanescu, President of the SAPE Directorate, and Temel Kotil, General Manager of Calik Enerji.

General contractor in the field of engineering, procurement, and construction, Calik Enerji, along with Rompetrol Energy's specialists, will continue tests on the synchronization of the gas turbines with the National Energy System and integration of the Cogeneration Plant with the Petromidia refinery in Navodari.

The investment amount is 164 million dollars. The Cogeneration Plant will generate over 70 MW per hour, and will fully assure the energy needs of the Petromidia refinery.

The use of SGT-750 gas turbines manufactured by Siemens is a premiere in Romania.

The project is implemented through the Kazakh-Romanian Energy Investment Fund (KREIF). The Fund was established in October 2018 by KMG International (80%), KazMunayGas subsidiary, and Societatea de Administrare a Participatiilor in Energie – SAPE (representative of the Romanian state, 20%). Its main goal is to develop energy projects in Romania.

Also, during his working trip to Romania, the Chairman of the Management Board of KMG visited the Vega (Ploiesti) and Petromidia (Navodari) refineries, where he familiarized himself with production and financial results, but also with the activity of Rompetrol gas stations.
