The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Romania, in collaboration with KMG International, offers film enthusiasts the Kazakh Film Festival. One of largest event of its kind in Europe and a premiere for Romania, the festival takes place on November 27-30, at Cinema Studio.
“The event is organized on the occasion of 550 years of Kazakh Khanate and the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is a unique occasion for Romanians to discover the authenticity and charm of a faraway nation that shares similar historical experiences such as the numerous battles for independence and creation of a modern state.”– explained H.E. Daulet Batrashev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Romania.
„We have been a partner of the Romanian state and a strategic investor in industry and economy for 8 years, managing to consolidated the energy bridge Romania- Kazakhstan. As a partner of this event we create awareness around the culture and language of a people with a unique identity formed in over 500 years of historical challenges.” – said Cătălin Dumitru, Vicepresident of KMG International.
The program of the festival includes 9-film projections produced by not only Kazakh directors, depicting over 500 years of Kazakhstan’s rich history and culture and various themes such as family bonds, love, loneliness, heroism, solidarity and the fight for freedom. Since Dzungars invasions, the Kazakh people witnessed wars, forced labor, scarcity, family killings and arrests. In the face of hardships, they remained brave and shared endless hope. These were the times when warriors and leaders were born to inspire and change the course of history.
During the 4 days of festival, the public will have free access to watch the following films: The Way of the Leader (4 parts), Nomad, The Promised Land, Warriors of the Steppe: Myn Bala, Kyz Zhibek, and Birzhan Sal.
The institutional partners of the event are The Romanian Filmmakers Union and Kazakhfilm Studio. The trailer of the event is available here.
