Rompetrol Rafinare, part of KMG International notified over the course of last week, the environmental authorities about the beginning of maintenance works at Petromidia refinery.
The works were initially scheduled for September and are part of the periodic maintenance of units. They will last for 15 days.
Thus, the refinery had already finished staggered shutdown procedures, and the empting and steam-cleaning of the equipment will be carried out. During this period, there will be performed repair works, maintenance and technological tests on the units from Petromidia platform.
During this period the company will continue the supply of products to clients partners, according to the commitments.
To be mentioned that the refinery and petrochemicals activity was stopped for the period October 11 – November 20, 2015 for the planned 5-year turnaround. The overall investment value amounted for 82 million USD.
At the same time, on the 26th of August, within the official investigation performed by the authorities regarding the event took place on August 22, there were summoned Rompetrol Rafinare and Rominserv companies, as well as four employees of these two companies. Based on the summons, both companies, as well as the four employees have to come to the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of Appeal of Constanta, to provide additional information.
The two companies have also commenced an internal investigation to shed light on the circumstances behind the tragic event.
