KMG International, through its member companies[1], has launched the 2018 Internship Program, addressed to 160 high-school, license and master degree students selected to develop their professional skills and technical competencies, for a successful career in the oil & gas industry. The program takes place in two different sessions, from August 1 to September 30, and October 1st to end of December, in the cities of Navodari, Ploiesti and Bucharest.

“Internship programs are part of the KMG International strategy of investing in human resources, not only within the company, but also for the benefit of the community we operate in. Besides the full coverage of learning materials, access to all processes on our premises, and the possibility to remain with the Group as employees, we offer 50 scholarships for a full academic year, to the best interns, selected upon the completion of the program”, stated Simona Popovici, Group Director Human Resources, KMG International.

Supported by the 2 industrial platforms, Petromidia and Vega, and the corporate offices, the program allows the transfer of know-how from experts towards the new generation, in the first phases of their careers. The participants will be trained by Group professionals in business segments such as oil processing and petro-chemistry, laboratory, maintenance, planning, risk management, occupational safety and environmental protection.

The participants are coming mainly from profile high schools and universities from Constanta, Bucharest, Ploiesti – “Lazar Edeleanu” High Schools, “Ovidius” University in Constanta, Petroleum and Gas Faculty Ploiesti, Polytechnic University of Bucharest – with which the Group has entered partnerships offering internships to high school students, students, faculty graduates and MAs.

The students participating in the 2018 internship program (140 of which within the companies from Petromidia and Vega platforms and 20 within the corporate office) were selected following a recruitment campaign conducted directly in universities, during which their technical and behavioral competencies, such as teamwork, initiative, proactivity and result orientation, were assessed. At the program’s end, the high school and faculty students can remain with the company as employees, depending on the available vacant jobs.

“I had two internships within Petromidia and got the chance to assimilate information in the area of crude oil refining and met professionals eager to share their experience with me. Having the contact with such a big production unit I could easily notice the differences between theory and practice, while the diversity of learning opportunities motivates me to continue to work in this field” – Iuliana Uritu, former intern and Junior Process Engineer, Petromidia Refinery.

In 2017 42 interns, out of 160 who completed the program, were hired within KMG International’s member companies, in different areas of activity. As of 2001, around 1300 interns have joined our program, with the outstanding ones having begun their careers within KMG International.
