Rompetrol Rafinare, a member company of the KMG International (Rompetrol) Group, implemented a new alarm system on the Petromidia Navodari platform, through an investment of 700,000 dollars, part of the company's commitment to the safety of employees and neighboring communities.
"Continuous investments and the development of projects with an impact in the safety area, including the modernization and improvement of protection systems, both for our employees and for the neighboring population, are major priorities of Rompetrol Rafinare. The main benefit brought by the new system is the ability to respond in real time to emergency situations, a fact that helps us maintain a high standard in all sectors of activity", said Florian Daniel Pop, General Manager of Rompetrol Rafinare.
The new system consists of 22 sirens of different capacities and a central panel for their activation and control. 9 pieces of equipment are installed on the territory of the Petromidia platform, and 13 outside the refinery, in such locations as Mamaia, Navodari, Lumina, Corbu, Sibioara and Piatra.
Their location was established based on a study carried out by a specialized company and approved by the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) "Dobrogea" Constanta, so as to allow an alarm within a radius of 10 km around the refinery.
In addition, the new equipment can be operated in centralized system both by specially trained Rompetrol Rafinare employees in cases of necessity that target the company, and by ISU, for situations that target the entire population in external situations, which are not related to the activity of the Petromidia platform.
Unlike the old alarm system, the new sirens have a much larger coverage area, the ones that worked until now could only be heard on the territory of the refinery. At the same time, the new system can transmit, in addition to the acoustic signals, various voice messages, with the help of which the reason for triggering the alarm and the way in which the population must act can be announced.
The works were coordinated by Rompetrol Rafinare specialists, through Rominserv, the general contractor of the KMG International Group (Rompetrol), with the support of ISU and were executed by a specialized company.
Rompetrol Rafinare carried out, this year alone, development and modernization projects of operational assets amounting to around 85 million dollars, to which are added other investments in maintenance and compliance.
The significant shareholders of Rompetrol Rafinare SA are KMG International (54.63% - directly and indirectly) and the Romanian State, through the Ministry of Energy (44.7%).
