Rominserv Valves Iaifo Zalău, a company member of the Rompetrol Group, restarted on 1st of April its production of industrial valves and the employees affected by the temporary activity cuts resumed their normal activity.

“Adopting measures such as the reinforcement of partnerships with companies from the oil, petrochemical and energetic fields, the development of the distribution channels and the range of the offered industrial valves, allowed us to reinitiate the production activity. During the next period, the company will deliver to domestic and international clients industrial valves worth USD 1.3 million, compared to a level of approximately one million USD during the first 3 months of this year” says David Ioan, Manager of Rominserv Valves, Rominserv branch.

For a boost in products’ competitiveness, on the domestic and international markets, the company will continue the program for reducing production costs of industrial fixtures. In 2009, the total value of the investments estimated by the company will be of USD 850,000, out of which USD 350,000 represent investments for the environment.

Also, the company will continue the development of some adjoining services, for valves mending at the customer’s site, but also to diversify the range of offered products by extending the type of valves produced, of larger sizes and for use in high pressure environments. On the background of the economic crisis and an approximately 50% drop in orders volume, the company decided, in March, for the suspension of the production activity, approximately 80% of the employees being affected by this decision.

During this period, Rominserv Valves continued to deliver products from stocks, the agreements with the customers taking their course according to the previously set programs and delivery terms.

Rominserv Valves recorded sales of approximately USD 22.4 million, of which valves –USD 12.5 million, up by 17% over the 2007 level and 80% that of 2005 – the first year in the Rompetrol Group. The total value of investments made during 2004-2008 reaches USD 4.2 million, of which USD 1.2 million were allocated for environmental investments.

Rominserv, general contractor of Rompetrol Group, took over in November 2004 the assets of the industrial platform Iaifo Zalău, in process of liquidation. Currently, in the Zalău-based working point, mobile stations for fuel distribution are also produced, until now being completed 171 Rompetrol Expres stations and 70 domestic stations.
