Rompetrol, leading Romanian company with major operations in refining and petrochemicals, retail, trading and industrial services in 11 main European and Asian markets, chose Oracle Cloud to decrease IT operational costs and lower energy consumption, in its effort to enhance corporate sustainability.

“With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Cloud Platform, we significantly reduced IT operational costs, cut energy consumption by 20%, simplified administration and compliance, and delivered the scalability we need to meet our sustainable growth plans in the oil and gas industry for years to come” - said Vlad Moca, KMG International Deputy Group IT Director.

Through the cloud migration Rompetrol is able to reach savings in the next 3 years due to decrease in hardware maintenance, administration and energy cost, while increasing the availability of the applications. Operating in the oil and gas industry is important to Rompetrol to drive environment and community protection, while responding to the world’s increasing energy demand. The company strives to reduce environmental footprint, and is committed to undertaking operations in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. With this project, the Group decreased power usage by more than 4,500 kilowatt hours (kWh) per month, a 20% reduction, by moving to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Cloud Platform - considerably lowering greenhouse gas emissions, a central focus of KMGI’s strategy as a key player in the European oil and gas business.

“Today’s innovative organizations, such as KMG International can tremendously benefit from Oracle Infrastructure and Platform Cloud Services. Beside operational costs savings they can rely continuously on latest technologies and highest security levels and benefit from the agility of the cloud.” - said Sorin Mindrutescu, Oracle Romania Country Leader.

This IT project is part of the Group’s long-term sustainability strategy which focuses on business efficiency of processes, proper management of resources, reduced consumption of water and emissions, sustainable solutions delivered to retail clients (electronic invoicing, electric stations for hybrid cars, solar panels in gas stations), as well as a consistent support granted to communities across Romania in the fields of environment, healthcare, culture and education.
