The Rompetrol Group, in partnership with the Dinu Patriciu Foundation will support the local authorities in the reconstruction of schools and kindergartens from the recently flood-affected areas, the total amount of the donation being up to of EUR 300,000.
"We've already contacted some of the local authorities in order to identify, evaluate and establish the amount necessary for the reconstruction, repairs, utilities, furniture and teaching materials. We really believe that each one of us has the moral duty to sustain education in all its aspects, directly and without intermediates" says Tincuţa Baltag, general director of Dinu Patriciu Foundation.
The Dinu Patriciu Foundation will analyse the facts and will establish priorities, coordinating directly the reconstruction programme. The main objective is finishing up the works until the opening day of 2008 school year.
From the total amount of EUR 300,000, the foundation will contribute with EUR 50,000. The rest of EUR 250,000 comes from the Rompetrol Group which will collect LEI 0.01 from every liter of fuel sold in its gas stations during one month. The fuel price will not be affected by this donation.
"Simultaneously, as the group employees’ requested, collecting points will be established inside the group's companies. The goods collected will be distributed in acordance with the inhabitants’ needs of the affected areas." says Dinu Patriciu, President and CEO of The Rompetrol Group and President of The Dinu Patriciu Foundation.
The Rompetrol Group has initiated in the spring of 2005 the "Rompetrol for the Romanians" campaign, which had as objective the reconstruction of the flood-affected western part of the country. The total amount that Rompetrol donated in 2005 was USD 350,000.
