Rompetrol is marking 15 years of partnership with the George Enescu International Festival and Competition by organizing a reforestation event in Reghin, a region with a strong tradition in musical instrument craftsmanship. In collaboration with Artexim and the Romanian Association of Luthiers, Rompetrol has planted over 6,000 maple and oak saplings across 1.2 hectares, supported by 40 company volunteers from Bucharest, Constanţa, and Ploieşti.

“For more than a decade, Rompetrol has supported not only cultural milestones but also initiatives that unite sustainability with art. Through this planting initiative, we demonstrate a vision for the future where nature, culture, and social responsibility come together. This effort reaffirms our commitment to creating a positive impact in our communities and contributing to a healthier environment,” stated Tamila Mikulich, Group Administrative Director of Rompetrol.

"The long-term partnership with Rompetrol within the George Enescu International Festival and Competition means more to us than financial support—it represents a deep collaboration rooted in shared values and a commitment to supporting Romanian culture and the environment. Through the reforestation activity in Reghin, our teams came together to plant trees in an emblematic location for Romania's musical tradition. It is a symbolic yet impactful step towards a greener future for Romanian communities,” shared Cristina Uruc, interim manager of Artexim.

For over 20 years, Rompetrol has been dedicated to environmental sustainability through reforestation projects and initiatives that improve quality of life in local communities. Earlier this year, the company planted over 8,200 saplings in the Parâng-Cindrel Mountains and in green spaces at schools in Piteşti and Parc Vest in Ploieşti, supporting the sustainable development goals set by the UN Agenda 2030—specifically Climate Action, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Life on Land.

In Reghin, Rompetrol is also partnering with the Romanian Association of Luthiers to supply music schools nationwide with handcrafted musical instruments, supporting the education and development of future musicians.

This project, a fusion of culture and sustainability, showcases the positive impact of a responsible partnership between business and cultural institutions for a greener future and a community more connected to its cultural heritage.

Artexim is the institution under the Ministry of Culture that organizes and promotes the George Enescu International Festival and Competition, maintaining its status as a strategic national cultural project. With over three decades of sustained activity, Artexim is affiliated with prestigious organizations like the European Festivals Association, ensuring international standards through its association with the World Federation of International Music Competitions and the Alink-Argerich Foundation. The agency is recognized for its contribution to promoting Romanian art and implementing the Ministry of Culture's cultural programs.

The AALR brings together master luthiers dedicated to preserving tradition and excellence in the craft of making and restoring stringed musical instruments. Founded to promote the quality and authenticity of handmade instruments, the association actively supports its members' professional development, upholding high standards in luthiery, and collaborates with renowned artists and institutions to keep this valuable craft alive in Romania. The AALR also organizes educational and artistic events to promote the instruments created by its members both in Romania and abroad.

The reforestation event in Reghin was carried out in coordination with EcoAssist, the legal representative of the volunteer-based national initiative "Plantăm fapte bune în România."
