The Rompetrol Group continues in 2008 as well to develop its presence in the Bacău county, both by opening a new bottling station for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Dumbrava village (Iteşti commune - 15 km from Bacău) and by developing the fuel distribution network.

Last but not least, the contribution to the local budget that is also rising shall bring benefits at the level of the community from Bacău. At international level, Rompetrol, which is present in 13 countries, having the majority of assets and operations in France, Romania, Spain and South-Eastern Europe, may sustain the energetic security of Europe by accomplishing a link between the oil resources from the East and the distribution markets from the West” declares Dinu Patriciu, CEO of the Rompetrol Group.

With an investment value of over USD 10 million, the new LPG bottling station shall increase the production capacity and contribute to the extension of the distribution of Rompetrol products within the Eastern area of Romania. The construction works are finalized in a proportion of 70% and the station shall become operational until the end of the year.

The unit from Bacău shall have more than 50 employees and an annual bottling capacity of 20,000 tons of LPG. The Rompetrol Group currently holds and operates similar stations in Năvodari and Arad through Rompetrol Gas – the division for the trade with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The investment shall support the objective of Rompetrol Gas of becoming in 2008 an important player on the domestic LPG market and the company estimated to accomplish for this year a turnover of approximately USD 100 million, rising versus 2007 when it recorded a level of USD 54 million.

Rompetrol Downstream, the retail division of the Group intends in 2008 to build other 13 new stations in the Bacău county, out of which 11 Expres mobile units for the distribution of fuels. According to the potential of the targeted areas, the investments of the company Rompetrol Downstream may reach this year a total level of approximately USD 5.3 million after 2007 when they rose to USD 4.2 million.

Rompetrol currently holds in the Bacău county a number of 4 filling stations (2 in Bacău, 1 in Oneşti and another one in Comăneşti) and an Expres mobile station in the commune Parincea (25 km from Bacău) and the total number of employees is of 90 persons.
