The Rompetrol Group announces the opening of its Moscow representative office to conduct local business activities and continue to explore expansion in the crude oil exploration and production field in the region.

The Moscow office, officially registered at the end of March, is supervised by Ion Sturza, VP of Business Development for Russia and the CIS, and will be led by Constantin Lutsenko, an experienced oil and petrochemical industry businessman. Lutsenko, 43, holds several economics degrees and brings to Rompetrol his vast experience with major oil companies in Russia (Gazprom, Novochimtrans etc.), the US and Germany.

«Rompetrol is actively seeking opportunities in exploration and production in Russia and the CIS, currently negotiating with several local companies for development of production fields,» said Ion Sturza.

The decision to open an office in Moscow is part of the expansion strategy Rompetrol is enacting in the Balkans, Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine and Russia, regions with high development potential for the oil industry. To carry out increasingly complex projects, Rompetrol integrated last year its E&P division with its drilling, workover and well services activities under the International Upstream business unit. This division will coordinate the technical aspects of activity in the CIS.
