Over 400 people, including Rompetrol employees and their families, participated in the tenth edition of the Rompetrol Run and Care event, which took place on Saturday, September 23rd in Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park, Bucharest, to support the M.A.M.E Association and their mission.
The cause was supported by other runners across the country, who ran various distances between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, and tracked their run using a motion-tracking app and subsequently posted on Facebook using the hashtag #rompetrolmame.
The distance of 3000 kilometers is converted into liters of fuel and donated by Rompetrol to support the M.A.M.E Association, an organization that since 2009 offers support, counseling and psycho-socio-medical recovery for sick children and those with limited financial means and their families.
"Run and Care is part of our tradition to run for a noble cause and support essential areas of Romanian society through partnerships with NGOs. Every year, we are inviting people with civic sense and a passion for movement to join the event, to run individually or in a group, and collect fuel for good deeds. It's a unique charitable event with a high number of participants, an expression of responsibility and solidarity. As a form of appreciation for the runners' efforts, Rompetrol will plant trees to increase forested areas and have clean air." - Bauyrzhan Nugumanov, General Manager Rompetrol Downstream.
“For the children and young people under the care of the M.A.M.E. Association, timely access both to medical investigations and treatments, as well as to the recovery therapies they need, is, most of the time, an extra chance to life! A chance for a normal childhood far from the hospital bed, from pain and suffering. That is precisely why we are grateful to Rompetrol for their repeated involvement in supporting the organization's cause and projects. Many thanks to every runner and event supporter who made the 10th edition of the charity cross a memorable one. We hope to continue to gather together as many kilometers of good deeds as possible for the benefit of the children and young people in our care!" said Maria Culescu, the founding president of the M.A.M.E. Association.
Rompetrol Run and Care had its first edition in 2013, created as a corporate movement and volunteer project, managing to raise over 120,000 euros through the involvement of employees, their families, and invited business partners. The money and fuel have supported the missions of associations and foundations such as Hospice Casa Speranţei, MAME, Edulier, Magic, Hope and Homes for Children, Agent Green, the Dravet Association, and other Rare Epilepsy organizations over the past 8 years.
