KMG International employees took the start on Saturday, June 11, in the third edition of the Rompetrol Run and Care running event, in Herăstrău Park, Bucharest. Over 300 employees from various companies within the Group ran alongside family members and business partners for distances of 5, 10 and 15 km, each kilometer being rewarded by KMG International with $ 3 to support the cause of MAME Association.
„Rompetrol Run and Care stands out among our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the sense that it involves our employees, their families and our business partners, promoting values like volunteering and charity in a healthy and engaging way, while giving back to the community. Throughout the years, over 3.000 colleagues, meaning more than half of the Group’s employees, donated their time and effort to various social, environmental, healthcare and educational initiatives in the benefit of the community”, said Marius Ghica, Corporate Development Director, KMG International.
KMG International has over 5.000 employees in Romania and since 2009, the Group has invested over USD 8 million in community development projects in the country, reaching 300,000 direct beneficiaries.
The goal of the internal employee engagement through Rompetrol Run and Care event was to raise funds for the NGO’s “Center for Little Stars project”, dedicated to provide social and medical aid to chronically ill and socially disadvantaged children from Bucharest and surrounding counties.
This is M.A.M.E Association’s most important project, initiated in June 2014. Since its establishment, the center had more than 160 beneficiaries and the 82 volunteers involved in the project provided almost 2,000 hours of social and medical counseling to children in Romania diagnosed with cancer and other severe illnesses.
“We gladly welcome KMG International’s initiative to engage its employees in supporting a noble cause. This edition of the already established charity running event organized by the company aims to raise money that will be used to support counseling and socio-medical recovery activities these children need in facing the disease and throughout their recovery. We would like to show our deepest appreciation and thanks to KMG International for their commitment to the community and their involvement in our cause”, said Maria Culescu, Chairman and founder of the M.A.M.E Association.
