Rompetrol Well Services (RWS), part of The Rompetrol Group, started this month the work on an exploration well in the Muglad Basin in Southern Sudan, under a contract of about 800.000 USD, signed by the company in March.

High-tech, modern equipment, professionalism of our specialists enabled to perform work in over 35 years in dozens of countries from all over the world, and from different regions of Africa ", said Adrian Stanescu, general manager of Rompetrol Well Services.
The deadline is September and related equipment and materials were transported on the Romania - Turkey - Kenya - South Sudan route.
The company made several well works in Africa, Sudan, where the last project was completed in 2008-2009. At the end of last year, it extend the activities on new market, Hungaria and Bulgaria.
Rompetrol Well Services (PTR) registered in the first quarter of the year a turnover of approximately 20 million RON and a net income of over 3,2 million RON. In 2011, the company reported total revenues of over 31 million USD and a net profit of over 4 million USD.
Established in 1951, Rompetrol Well Services currently has 350 employees in Romania and Kazakhstan and has provided services in countries such as Iraq, Jordan, Greece and Turkey. Since 2000, the company was taken over by the Rompetrol Group, which is the majority shareholder with 71.73%.
The Muglad Basin is located in southern Sudan and covers an area of approximately 120,000 km2. Oil reserves were discovered in the '60s and began exploring deposits in February 2008.
