The school in Moviliţa, Constanţa county, was connected to the internet and equipped with laptops and overhead projectors to facilitate online courses for 150 children enrolled in secondary education. The project is carried out with the support of the Dăruieşte Aripi Association and the dealers of the Rompetrol distribution network, who contributed through donations to cover the costs of technical solutions, so that students do not lose school classes.
“In the context of this year's health crisis, many funds have been allocated to support the health system, and many other areas have been deprived of resources, although their importance is strategic for development. Education is a clearly affected field, many children are disturbed by changes, by online courses, but what do we do with those in rural areas who do not have access to technology. We cannot leave them behind and this was the logic of the project, to get involved through our contributions. Rompetrol has been involved in extensive projects this year, and similarly, we, the dealers who operate the gas stations under this brand, have joined forces in support of this initiative” - Ciprian Gradoc, dealer of a Rompetrol gas station in Constanţa County.
The school in Moviliţa commune has 5 classes and 23 teachers, and in Constanţa county there are 108,490 students in grades 0 - VIII, in urban and rural areas.
„The pandemic in our country has highlighted in the most painful way not only the systemic problems in health, but also those in education, they viscerally and long-term affecting the future of all our children. It matters a lot to us that we manage to help 150 rural children to better adapt to new realities and to have access to safe education” - Alina Pătrăhău, president of the Dăruieşte Aripi Association.
KMG International has supported the medical sector for an efficient management of the coronavirus pandemic through various projects; in Constanţa the company donated fuel for the ambulance service, medical equipment and protective materials for the staff of the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
At national level, the Group supported through the Foundation for SMURD and the Red Cross the acquisition of a mobile intensive care unit with 12 beds, used to increase the treatment capacity of hospitals, wherever needed in the country, with fuel for hospitals in Bucharest and Timisoara, but also for NGOs that offer medical care at patients' homes, as well as with reagents to support research at the Cantacuzino Institute in Bucharest, etc.
Rompetrol Downstream, the distribution company of KMG International, started in 2013 an extensive process of modernization of stations, optimization of distribution activities, optimization of financial results and network development. As part of the performance improvement process, the modernized stations, but also the newly built ones were taken over for management according to the well-known CoDo model (company owned, dealer operated). Currently, the Group operates in Romania over 1000 fuel distribution points (own stations, Rompetrol Partner stations, Rompetrol Expres stations, internal bases of 9 and 20 cubic meters).
